Alvar Aalto's Maison Louis Carré 1956
Just
outside Paris in Bazoches-sur-Guyonne is the only house Alvar Aalto built in
Paris. Built for art dealer and
collector Louis Carre who was a friend of Aalto’s (although also a friend of Corbusier which apparently caused
considerable conflict) everything in the house save two items of furniture were
designed by Aalto. For those of us who
greatly appreciate his works, seeing them in an interior designed especially
for them vastly increased our appreciation for them. Really worth the visit.
